Bar Buca

The brunch I can simply never get enough of

You know when you haven’t had sushi for a while and you don’t think twice about it; and then as soon as you have it, you can’t stop thinking about the next time you’re going to have that tempura and spicy mayo-topped maki roll again? That’s sort of like my relationship with the ‘Strapazzate’ at Bar Buca. Except, I’m always thinking about it. I just think about it MORE once I’m reminded how good it is.

Anyone who knows me knows that my most frequented brunch spot is Bar Buca and that I get the same thing every single time: the ‘Strapazzate’. It’s partially because I’m borderline addicted to that buttery, truffled burrata-topped skillet of scrambled eggs. But also because you don’t immediately feel like you need to take a two hour nap after it [a common occurrence I have after most of Toronto’s over-the-top eggs benny and pancake-based brunch spots]. Brunch at Bar Buca is simple, fresh, elegant and something I could eat every single day.

Want that indulgent, nap-worthy meal on a weekend? They have a cure for that too. Go for the Crespelle: a fluffy, golden-brown, donut-like pancake stack, topped with ricotta, seasonal fruit and grappa syrup.

Stopping by for lunch or even a late-night snack? Get the light, crispy pepperoni or tartufo pizza (or both?). And don’t forget to get a latte in the morning. Cinnamon, honey, dulce de leche - they’re all fantastic. From 7 am - 2 am seven days a week, you really can’t go wrong.
